I think it’s fair to say that Scythe has lacked in the high end cooling department in recent times, with many other coolers filling the top spots, however Scythe are looking to change that with the announcement of the new Mine 2 cooler.
The Mine 2 CPU cooler is based on a twin cooler layout. Eight copper heatpipes transport the heat to two large cooling blocks, with the heat dissipated with the help of a 140mm fan positioned in the middle of the cooler. Scythe claims that the lower part of the fan will also help with cooling of components around the CPU, such as voltage regulators and RAM modules. There are also extra fan mounting clips available (not included) that allow you to mount up to three fans for an improved push/pull cooling system.
This is no cooler for small HTPC machines with the Mine 2 dimensions coming in at 130x 143 x 160 mm and a weight of 1.15KG, making it’s size comparable with the acclaimed Noctua NH-D14. It will ship with Scythe’s F.M.S.B.3 (Super Flip Mount Backplate 3) and will be compatible with all major platforms, including AMD’s AM2, AM2+, AM3 setups and Intel’s Sockel T / LGA775, LGA1155, LGA1156 and LGA1366 setups.
The Scythe Mine 2 is expected to ship worlwide early February at a price of 50.50 EU ( ~$68.70 USD)
