Kingston HyperX T1 DDR3-1600 CL9 Review – Great Memory At a Great Price

Featured

This review is going to explore the capabilities of the Kingston Hyper X T1 Performance series of RAM. This specific kit was designed to match the Gigabyte G1 Killer Series motherboard, however, its design, color and performance makes it a great grab for any enthusiast and a great addition to any motherboard.

This kit is 12GB in size and runs at timings of 9-9-9-27, however, one can definitely obtain some great results by pushing the timings lower through overclocking.

Aside from the abundance of RAM capacity, these modules are very aesthetically pleasing with larger heat spreaders that serve the purpose of functionality as much they do appearance.

PACKAGING

The kit comes in a sealed plastic package that has a clear cover. This does allow one to view the contents easily, and view the modules inside. Also, on the outside of the packaging is a sticker that allows you to view the specifics of the kit, including the speeds and timings.

Access to the memory modules themselves was a bit refreshing as the front and back fitted plastic covers are sealed only by the plastic sticker unlike the present course of one piece molded packaging that is so common…and so frustrating these days. Once the front cover is removed, the DIMMS pop out quickly and easily.

EXTERIOR APPEARANCE

Perhaps one of the the most noticeable traits of this series of the Kingston HyperX line of memory are the rather large heat spreaders situated atop of the modules themselves. These will particularly show their worth in computer chassis’ with little air flow, or when overclocking or applying more voltage to the memory where there will be excessive heat generated. These ‘coolers’ have a notched type design to allow for excellent heat dissipation.

A definite consideration of similar tall heatsinks is that they can cause some clearance issues if you do not plan accordingly. With larger CPU tower-type heatsinks, you will have to make preparations to eliminate any blockage or clearance issues with your memory and the best way is to simply place the CPU cooler oriented in a way that does not interfere with the memory modules whatsoever.

A bit reassuring is the fact that, once once you hold the memory in your hands, you feel that reassuring weight of a proper RAM heatsink. You can be assured that this is no cheap foil heatspreader. The module is made of a heavier aluminum that will allow a more efficient heat transfer when pushing the envelope or situating this RAM in a case with limited airflow.

I must admit that I enjoy the appearance of the Kingston HyperX T1 DDR 3 1600 RAM. It was specifically designed for the Gigabyte G1 Killer motherboard but the neutral black color would look great with many boards. Even on my EVGA classified motherboard, I really feel that they look great.

Lets see how they look in the system!
